Silva slams Man City’s short rest after Arsenal draw
Manchester City’s congested fixture schedule drew attention after their 1-1 draw with Arsenal. Bernardo Silva highlighted the challenges of a short turnaround, saying the team was not fully prepared for the clash.
The game at the Emirates Stadium saw a late goal from Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli, cancelling out City’s earlier lead and keeping the Premier League title race tightly contested.
City had only 66 hours to recover after their 2-0 Champions League win over Napoli. In contrast, Arsenal had four days off following a 2-0 win over Athletic Club in Bilbao.
‘It is not fair to play one of these games like this. It is just not right,’ Silva said. Manager Pep Guardiola also mentioned that his side was ‘incredibly tired’, as City had to cope with one of the tightest schedules in the league.
