The Australia Women vs New Zealand Women T20I series 2024 will kickstart at the Great Barrier Reef Arena in Mackay on September 19.

The three-match T20I series between Australia Women and New Zealand Women is scheduled to start on Thursday at 02:40 PM IST. Live streaming and telecast for the series will be available in India.

The second match will also be played in Mackay on September 22 before the teams shift base to the Allan Border Field in Brisbane for the final T20I on September 24. All T20Is are slated to start at 02:40 PM IST.

Australia Women will kick start their preparations for the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 with the New Zealand series. The Aussies will appear in an international match after a gap of more than five months following their T20I series win at Bangladesh in April.

New Zealand, meanwhile, come into this game after a dismal white-ball tour of England where they failed to register a single win in eight matches, three ODIs and five T20Is. New Zealand will look for an improved showing against the Aussies as both teams head straight to the United Arab Emirates for the T20 World Cup after the upcoming series.

Both Australia and New Zealand are placed together in Group A for the Women’s T20 World Cup which is scheduled to start on October 3.

Both the teams will have a full-strength squad, named for the showpiece event, in action during the series. Australia Women will have one exception in Heather Graham who is part of the T20I series alone and is not part of the T20 World Cup squad.

Six-time T20 World Champions Australia have a plethora of all-rounders in their squad that provide depth and balance in the shortest format.

Vice-captain Tahlia McGrath, Ellyse Perry, Grace Harris, Annabel Sutherland and Ashleigh Gardner will all fancy their chances with bat and ball to hand Australia some winning momentum going into the showpiece event next month.

Captain and hard-hitting Sophie Devine will lead New Zealand’s efforts for a turnaround along with Amelia Kerr and Suzie Bates.

Australia Women are currently on top of the ICC WT20I rankings whereas New Zealand Women are placed in fourth spot.

Australia Women vs New Zealand Women head-to-head in T20Is

Australia Women hold a slight edge over New Zealand Women in their T20I head-to-head record. The Aussies have won 26 matches compared to the New Zealand’s 21 with one match ending without a result.

In the most recent meetings between the two sides in the Women’s T20 World Cup in 2023, the Aussies recorded a huge 97-run win over the White Ferns in Paarl.

With 10 wins in 15 matches, Australia Women are currently placed on top of the ICC Women's Championship 2022-25 standings with 22 points.

Bangladesh Women, on the other hand, have registered four wins, suffered six defeats while one game was tied. They are placed seventh in the standings with 13 points.

Ahead of the historic series, Bangladesh have announced their 15-member squad to be led by captain Nigar Sultana while Nahida Akter will be the team’s deputy.

Uncapped wicketkeeper Farzana Akter has been included in Bangladesh's squad. The 15-year-old Nishita Akter Nishi, who featured in two ODIs against Pakistan last year, has also secured a place in the squad.

The Australia women's national cricket team has also named a star-studded squad to be led by star wicketkeeper-batter Alyssa Healy.

The visitors will miss the services of Darcie Brown due to a navicular stress injury to her left foot. Darcie Brown has been replaced by hard-hitting batter Grace Harris.

The likes of Ellyse Perry, Beth Mooney, Ash Gardner, Phoebe Litchfield, Tahlia McGrath, Megan Schutt, Annabel Sutherland and Georgia Wareham are also part of the Australian squad.

All matches in the upcoming three-match ODI series will be played at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka. Matches are scheduled to be played on March 21, 24 and 27.

The Australia women’s national cricket team will square off against South Africa Women in a one-off Test to be played at the W.A.C.A. Ground in Perth starting on Thursday, February 15.

Australia and South Africa will face each other in women’s Test cricket for the first time.

Led by captain Alyssa Healy, hosts Australia Women head into the Test brimming with confidence after clinching both the recently-concluded T20I and ODI series 2-1 against South Africa.

However, Australia lost their previous Test against India by eight wickets at the Wankhede Stadium in December.

Ahead of the one-off Test, the hosts have made few changes to their Test squad.

Bowling all-rounder Sophie Molineux has been recalled to the squad after last playing a Test match against India in 2021.

Australia will miss the services of Lauren Cheatle as she needed skin cancer removed from her neck last month while all-rounder Heather Graham has been dropped from the squad.

On the other hand, the South Africa women’s national cricket team will aim to bounce back in the historic Test Down Under.

The Proteas last played a Test match against England in 2022. The match ended in a draw at the County Ground in Taunton.

Meanwhile, the visitors have added six uncapped players in their 14-member squad led by all-format captain Laura Wolvaardt.

Tazmin Brits, Masabata Klaas, Ayanda Hlubi, Eliz-Mari Marx, Delmi Tucker and Mieke de Ridder are the new faces in the South Africa’s Test squad.

Interestingly, star all-rounder Marizanne Kapp is the only player in the squad to have featured in more than one Test match for the Proteas.
