The UEFA Champions League 2022-23 group stage draw grabbed headlines after pitting FC Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Inter Milan in one group.

Barcelona, Inter and Bayern Munich have been clubbed with Viktoria Plzen in Group C, which is considered as the Group of Death for the upcoming UCL group stage.

It is worth noting that Barcelona and Bayern Munich were drawn together previously in Group E during the UEFA Champions League 2021-22 group stage. Bayern ended up beating the Blaugrana 3-0 in both group games and relegating the Catalans to the Europa League.

Robert Lewandowski, who scored 69 Champions League goals for Bayern Munich between 2014 and 2022, will face his former employers in the UCL 2022-23 group stage.

Inter Milan, who crashed out in the Round of 16, will fancy their opportunity to qualify for the knockout phase.

Another group that football fans must watch out for is Group G. Premier League champions Manchester City have been drawn with Sevilla, Borussia Dortmund and Copenhagen.

Erling Haaland, who joined City from Dortmund earlier this year, couldn’t have asked for an earlier reunion with his former side. Having set the records for the youngest (20 years, 231 days) and the fastest player (14 matches) to score 20 UCL goals while at Borussia Dortmund, all eyes will be fixed on the Norwegian striker to see how he performs against Die Borussen.

Liverpool, who won UCL 2018�?9, will play in Group A alongside Ajax, Napoli and Rangers while Chelsea have been drawn with AC Milan, Salzburg and Dinamo Zagreb in Group E.

Group H features Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus while Atlético Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur will be the favourites to qualify from Group B and Group D respectively.

Meanwhile, defending champions Real Madrid will begin their quest for a 15th European crown while taking on the likes of RB Leipzig, Shakhtar Donetsk and Celtic in Group F.

The UEFA Europa League 2021-22 semi-finals will start on Friday, April 29 with four-evenly matched sides fighting for the coveted title.

Premier League outfit West Ham will host Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt in the first leg of the UEL 2021-22 semi-final at the London Stadium on Friday. The second leg of the semi-final fixture will be played at Eintracht Frankfurt’s home ground at Deutsche Bank Park in Frankfurt, Germany on May 6.

West Ham booked their place in the semi-final after defeating Olympique Lyon 4-1 on aggregate. On the other hand, Eintracht Frankfurt stunned La Liga giants FC Barcelona 4-3 on aggregate in their quarter-final clash.

This will be the first meeting between West Ham and Eintracht Frankfurt in the UEFA Europa League. The two, however, did face off in the semi-finals of the now-defunct UEFA European Winners Cup in 1976. The two teams won a leg each, but the Hammers won the tie 4-3 on aggregate.

In the other UEL 2021-22 semi-final, German side RB Leipzig will face Scottish club Rangers FC in the first leg at the Red Bull Arena on Friday, April 29. The return leg will be hosted at Ibrox Stadium in Glasgow on May 6.

While RB Leipzig defeated Serie A outfit Atalanta 3-1 on aggregate in their quarter-final fixture, Rangers FC pipped Portuguese side Braga 3-2 on aggregate to seal their place in the semis.

The UEFA Europa League 2021-22 round of 16 matches will kick off on Wednesday as Portuguese club FC Porto host French outfit Lyon while Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt will travel to face Real Betis in Seville, Spain.

Scottish giants Rangers and Northern Ireland’s Linfield share the record for most league titles by European club.

The Gers have won the Scottish Premiership a record 55 times, with their recent triumph coming under the tutelage of Steven Gerrard in the 2020-21 season.

Rangers�?title triumph was their first in 10 years, and they went unbeaten in the entire campaign, matching the feat previously achieved by Brendan Rodgers' Celtic in 2016-17.

Linfield, on the other hand, matched Rangers�?tally as they completed a hat-trick of league titles with the 2020-21 NIFL Premiership. It is also the second time the Blues registered a hat-trick of league crowns (2009�?0, 2010�?1, 2011�?2).

While the Belfast-based club has 55 league championships in their trophy room, Linfield have won seven titles in the revised tournament.

The top five list further includes Celtic (51), Olympiacos (46) and Benfica (37).

Versatile defender Thomas Meunier of Borussia Dortmund is a must-have player for this game. The 30-year-old has recorded five assists in all competitions this season and is expected to be a big threat going forward for Dortmund. If not, one can also pick fullback Raphael Guerreiro, who is more than capable of making his presence felt going forward from the back for the German giants.

Arsenal teenager Gabriel Martinelli scored twice to spark a 4-0 rout of Standard Liege in the Europa League group stage on Thursday, while Manchester United stuttered to a goalless draw against AZ Alkmaar.

Martinelli, 18, headed in superbly to give last year's runners-up Arsenal the lead on 14 minutes at the Emirates Stadium before adding a quick-fire second barely two minutes later.

The Brazilian was making just his second start for the Gunners since joining the club in July. He also struck twice on his full debut against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup.

Joe Willock fired in a third for a youthful Arsenal on 22 minutes and Martinelli set up Dani Ceballos on the hour to wrap up another comfortable win in Europe as Unai Emery's side moved on to six points at the top of Group F.

Arsenal are three points clear of both Standard and Eintracht Frankfurt, who beat Vitoria Guimaraes 1-0 in Portugal.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's United again struggled in attack and failed to muster a single shot on target with the club still searching for a first away win since March.

United are winless in 10 games away from home -- a run that has seen them score just five times.

"The conditions were tough, but I thought we did very well. It puts us in a good position," said Solskjaer. 

"If you get your draws away from home and win the home games, you'll be fine."

Academy product Brandon Williams was handed his first start for United, who saw teenager Mason Greenwood denied by a superb block from Ron Vlaar on 30 minutes.

The game was played in The Hague, on an artificial surface described as "one of the worst" by Solskjaer, after a storm damaged Alkmaar's home ground in August.

Stonewall penalty

United rarely threatened with substitute Jesse Lingard firing wide although Solskjaer reacted in disbelief when Marcus Rashford appeared to be chopped down in the penalty area.

"It's a penalty 101 times out of 100," said the Norwegian.

Steven Gerrard's Rangers conceded an injury-time goal in a 2-1 loss at Swiss side Young Boys.

Colombian forward Alfredo Morelos put Rangers ahead just before half-time, but Young Boys levelled through Roger Assale and Christian Fassnacht grabbed a 93rd-minute winner.

Feyenoord claimed a 2-0 home victory over Porto in a clash of former European champions in the other match in Group G.

Celtic gained a degree of revenge on CFR Cluj, the Romanians who ousted them in the third qualifying round of the Champions League, as Odsonne Edouard and Mohamed Elyounoussi scored in a 2-0 win in Glasgow.

Wolves, in their first European campaign since 1980, rebounded from an opening loss to Braga as Willy Boly's stoppage-time goal earned them a 1-0 win at Besiktas.

"It's huge for us. We don't want to make up the numbers, we want to compete to win," said Wolves captain Conor Coady.

Espanyol forward Wu Lei became the first Chinese man to score in a major European competition as his side beat CSKA Moscow 2-0.

Austrian debutants Wolfsberg drew 1-1 at home to Roma in Group J, while Javier Hernandez grabbed the only goal as five-time champions Sevilla overcame APOEL of Cyprus.

Azerbaijani club Qarabag beat Dudelange 4-1 in a game that was interrupted in the first half when a drone carrying a flag from the disputed separatist region of Nagorno-Karabakh flew over the pitch in Luxembourg.

PSV Eindhoven defeated Rosenborg 4-1, while Lazio came from behind to beat Rennes 2-1.
